The star of Valencia and Spain has set a five-month layoff after surgery on ruptured tendons

Earlier this month, Jose Gaya broke hearts when he suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury from which he had just returned. The Valencia and Spain defender saw his chance to play at Euro 2024 go up in smoke, and has since undergone surgery to fix the problem.

Gaya suffered the original injury in March during Valencia's trip to Villarreal. He returned to action two months later, as surgery was opted for on that occasion, as the 29-year-old wanted to be fit and available for Los Che's final games of the season, as well as the Euro 2024 with Spain.

Conservative treatment was chosen on that occasion, but surgery is the course of action that was taken. Ace for ReliefThe idea is that Gaya will return to action in October, although his recovery will be incredibly slow, in order not to avoid another relapse in his return to action.

It means that Valencia will be without one of their most important players for the first two months of the season, while Gaya will also not be available to play in of Spain opening four Nations League games, which will begin in the September international break.
