With the Feyenoord boss Slot ready to replace Jurgen Klopp in Liverpool, it is even possible that could be seen as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah at Anfield.

But as far as Newcastle are concerned, they are the ones who will reap the benefits of their meteoric rise.

Discussing his plans for Minteh, manager Eddie Howe He said: “The plan at the moment is for him to return to us in pre-season. Then we'll go on from there.”

Alexander Isak has been linked with a big money transfer to Arsenal, while Bruno Guimaraes will be the target due to the £100m buyout clause in his contract which expires on June 30.

Given Minteh's rise to prominence and the prospect of a genuine role in Howe's first-team plans, it could allow Newcastle to offload an attacking player without the need to spend money on a replacement.
