His performances have earned the 19-year-old a place in Gareth Southgate's squad. 33-man provisional England squad before Euro 2024.

And his impressive campaign with United ended with the eventual winning goal in the fa cup final against their rivals Manchester City.

While the England international might have little reason to learn another language, the midfielder has revealed that he has been learning Spanish for the last year.

The young man was sidelined by an injury in the preseason and decided to learn the slang as a hobby.

speaking to The TelegraphMainoo said: “I started Spanish lessons on Zoom just to pass the time a bit.

“It's hard to keep doing it now that the schedule is so busy. Now that we're in the summer, I'll try to get back into it because I enjoyed it.”

Mainoo may already be one of United's key players in midfield, adding energy and dynamism that was severely lacking as Christian Eriksen and Casemiro reached the end of their careers.

But the teenager is not the only young man who impresses under Erik ten Hagwith Alejandro Garnacho, United's other scorer against City at Wembley, also one of the first names on the team's list.

The 19-year-old, who has contributed ten goals and five assists in 51 games this season, came through the youth system with Mainoo, who is eager to talk to the Madrid star.

And that includes discussing goal celebrations before kick-off, which led to a shining moment this season for the Red Devils that saw Garnacho, Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund Let's celebrate together on the billboards against West Ham in February at Old Trafford.

Mainoo added: “I always ask Garna (cho) before the game what the celebration will be if he scores and he told me he wasn't going to tell me.

“He told me, 'I'm not going to tell you! I'm not going to tell you!' So I said, “Okay.”

“But I saw him jump on the billboard when he scored and Rasmus and I jumped up there with him. It was a nice photo.

“All of us young guys, Amad (Diallo) too, have a lot of fun together and we've definitely gotten closer this season.”

United will rely even more on their youth duo next season after having shown their abilities this year.

There is a lot of turmoil in the club, including speculations about Ten Hag's workbut the Red Devils put that aside to win the FA Cup on Saturday.

And they can thank Mainoo and Garnacho after their 2-1 victory over City.
