Barcelona The boss Hansi Flick wanted to bring a staff that can link him to the club, and show him the ins and outs of the behemoth. After bringing in Heiko Westermann as a German-Spanish bridge for his staff, his latest target is the recently retired Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The 33-year-old left the game due to a persistent hip injury, and Flick, who had spent a year at Bayern with Thiago, was keen to have him join his coaching staff. The pair spoke about the prospect, with Flick the former La Masia midfielder acting as a link between the team and the coaching staff, and another coach who is fluent in German and Spanish. Brand say that Thiago is not convinced by the offer, and while he is willing to help in some points, he is not so sure to become a member of the staff full time. Thiago will take some time to work out his next step, and while he liked Flick's pitch, he is currently reluctant to accept it.
Nico Williams prefers Barcelona to any other move but wants his future settled soon. If not, he can stay at Athletic Bilbao. He respects his current side and wants them to have enough time to find a replacement. @tjuanmarti

Thiago certainly has the perfect mix of German football and Spanish football experience to understand exactly what is needed and the transition that might be required. He also has an impressive list of managers, including Jupp Heynckes, Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Jurgen Klopp, that he has worked with.
