- Aston Villa Vs. Bologna – Tue, Oct 22nd 2024, 20:00
Youri Tielemans was pleased with a controlled display from himself and his teammates, after Aston Villa defeated Bologna 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League.
Villa Park again played host to another memorable evening in the competition, as Unai Emery’s men recorded their third-straight Champions League victory, going 10 unbeaten in all competitions in the process.
The midfielder lauded the control the Villans had throughout the contest against their Italian visitors, as well as praising the ever-passionate support in B6.
“It was really good, obviously to play at home in front of our fans, and then win the game the way we did,” Tielemans exclaimed.
“So far, so good [in the Champions League]. We’ve been really good.
“Our first game, especially, we hit the ground running there in Bern and, from there, obviously that win against Bayern was amazing.
“Today, we showed a bit more control in our game, which was what we needed to win.”
Now 12 games into the 2024/25 campaign, the Belgium international evaluated Villa’s progress and his personal performances.
Tielemans expanded on how Emery’s men have built upon the foundations laid last season, and how their Manager is constantly demanding continued progression from his players.
He added: “We are doing really good. Me personally, I am doing good, and feeling good inside the team.
“All my teammates are helping me, and we are trying to push each other.
“The manager was saying before the game, we need to have higher standards than we had last year, to keep achieving what we want to achieve, and so far we are doing well.”
