After their relegation to the 2.Bundesliga, 1.FC Köln are set to lose several players due to relegation release clause, the dup Timo Hubers and Eric Martel are already attracting interest reports Sky Germany.
A 4-1 loss to Heidenheim on Saturday saw Köln’s time in the Bundesliga come to an end and with a transfer ban this window, any incomings are impossible to bring in. However, they are likely to lose several players.
Centre-back Timo Hübers has a relegation release clause in his contract said to be worth around €3-4m. The 27-year-old has already attracted interest from clubs such as Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and Fulham.
Midfielder Eric Martel also has a release clause said to be worth less than €5m. However, no clubs have yet to show interest in the 22-year-old as he was only interested in helping Köln survive.
The duo are not the only players likely to leave Kölln this summer. Luca Waldschmidt departs due to the expiry of his loan from Wolfsburg. While Köln’s youth prospect Justin Diehl has reportedly agreed to join VfB Stuttgart on a free transfer, while centre-back Julian Chabot could potentially join the winger at the MHP Arena.
