Todd Boehly believes Chelsea fans' anger is 'good news' and insists the club's vision will not change
Todd Boehly has called for Chelsea's billion-pound team to be given “time” and to “let the process unfold”.
The Blues' owners have recently come under fire once again, with the Supporters Trust claiming the club had become a “laughing stock” in a letter to owners Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.
Meanwhile, fans in Strasbourg, whose club is also managed by BlueCo, organized a furious protest over the weekend to express their discontent with their hierarchy.
Now, Boehly has addressed the growing frustrations in an interview published less than 48 hours later ChelseaThe disappointing 2-2 draw with ten men Burnley.
speaking to ForbesThe American said: “We just have to let the process develop and give them time to go from being incredible individual players with great skills to integrating into a team.
“The good news is that people care a lot. And the bad news is that people care a lot. That leads to times where they become frustrated with the team and the owners. “I understand that, but we have to continue to stay the course.”
Mauricio PochettinoThe German team will once again finish in mid-table, with the Blues currently in 11th place, eight points off the European places.
This marks an improvement of just one place in the Premier League table from last season's 12th place – Boehly and Co.'s first season in charge and also the club's worst result in 29 years.
However, despite this, Boehly appears to suggest that he and the rest of the Chelsea hierarchy will not be changing any time soon.
Going on to address the attraction American businesspeople feel to investing in the Premier League, he said: “The Premier League is broadcast in basically every country in the world. I think North Korea and Russia are the only ones that don't broadcast it.
“It's in a unique position on the American clock because there's not a lot of competition on Saturday morning.”
chelsea is ready to replace Boehly in 2027, under an agreement with Clearlake Capital that means the presidency can pass between them every five years.
That means he can technically return to retake his position in 2032.
