Toni Kroos reveals Real Madrid's hot dog League celebration – 'It was twice as good as Barcelona losing'

Real Madrid star Toni Kroos revealed how the celebrations at the Santiago Bernabeu went down last weekend as they were confirmed as La Liga champions. The German midfielder revealed that there was an extra sweetness that came as a result of a loss to Barcelona.

The Whites put Cadiz to the sword in a 3-0 victory, accompanied by a festive atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabeu. Half an hour later, Barcelona kicked off at Montilivi against Girona, and while the game continued, Real Madrid players broke out the… hot dogs.

“We won our game and when Barcelona went 2-1 I was going home but everyone told me to stay. 5 minutes later they lost 4-2. We were all eating hot dogs. Not leaving was a great decision,” he remarked on his podcast Einfach mal Luppen, brought by Brand.

“It was all crazy because Girona could still go 7-2 ahead. We celebrated a little, but not too much.”

Kroos felt that the lack of tension in the race for the title because of the distance between the two took something from emotional, but appreciated that Barcelona still lost the title.

“It is once again the feeling of having achieved something great. In any case, the season was so clear that it took some of the excitement at the end. It is clear that if he had been able to draw the scene, I would have preferred not to experience it in front of a TV. But it doesn't matter, combining it with a defeat of Barça was doubly good.”

The 34-year-old midfielder has yet to reveal whether he will extend his deal Real Madrid, or withdraw after the euro with Germany. Kroos returned to an empty Santiago Bernabeu pitch after Bayern Munich's win, causing some to question whether he had had his last drink on a big Champions League night. However, before this week, there was little suggestion that he would leave.
