- Aston Villa Vs. Bournemouth – Sat, Oct 26th 2024, 15:00
Pau Torres says Aston Villa must maintain their strong form when Bournemouth visit B6 on Saturday.
The Spaniard and his teammates are back in Premier League action at Villa Park after excelling once again in Europe in midweek, securing a 2-0 success against Bologna.
Focus has quickly switched to taking on the Cherries as Unai Emery’s side look to extend their ten-game unbeaten run.
“It’s very important,” Torres said of the game.
“We want to keep how we are playing and keep our way in the Premier League. We know it will be difficult after our Champions League game, but we need to be stronger at home.
“We need the fans in the next game and hopefully we can get a victory. We know that Bournemouth is a really good team and they have a really good coach – I know him from Spain.
“They will plan a physical game and we need to be prepared.”
“I’m really happy with how everything is going. I’m feeling comfortable with the team and my teammates. I want to say thank you to the fans because they are always supporting the team and we can feel it on the field.” – Pau Torres
As Torres pointed out, he has experience of playing against Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola and knows what to expect from his teams.
The 27-year-old played in both games between the sides last term while also taking on Iraola’s Rayo Vallecano four times in La Liga, experiencing two wins and two losses with Villarreal.
Villa’s No14 said: “He’s a very good coach, always keeping a good structure on the field.
“He’s always playing trying to find our weakness. We have to be focused as a backline because they will try to pass behind us.
“They press really well, they’re organised and we need to be really focused.”
Torres reached 50 appearances for the club last time out, marking the occasion with another commanding performance and a clean sheet.
The defender is aiming to continue thriving in claret and blue for a long time to come.
“It’s gone very quick. It’s only been one year and a few months since I came here,” he reflected.
“I’m really happy with how everything is going. I’m feeling comfortable with the team and my teammates.
“I want to say thank you to the fans because they are always supporting the team and we can feel it on the field.
“Hopefully 50 more (appearances) are coming and more and more.”
