Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Dominic Solanke in a club-record deal.
Spurs are understood to be paying Bournemouth £55m up front, with the fee rising to £65m with add-ons.
The 26-year-old announced his six-year contract shortly before the club faced Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Liverpool also have a 20 per cent resale clause in the deal following his move from Anfield to Bournemouth.
Solanke has been rewarded for his improved form in the top-flight last season, scoring 19 league goals for the Cherries.
The Spurs boss Angel Postecoglou has singled out Solanke as the long-term successor to Harry Kane following the departure of the England captain last summer and believes that Bournemouth The star adapts to his style of play.
However, he claimed it was impossible to directly replace Kane: “I don't think we've been looking to replace Harry. I think I said a number of times last year that you can't replace a generational player and there's a reason why they stand out.”
“It's fair to say that the front third is an area we really feel we need to strengthen this year. We've been working hard to try and get the right type of players in those areas that we need for another challenging season ahead.
“We're back in Europe, which means more games, and the one thing that came last year, when we had interruptions in terms of injuries or suspensions, was a real drop-off and we want to try and mitigate that this year by having a stronger squad to cope with everything we do.”
The former Chelsea and Liverpool The star was tied to the south coast club until 2029 but his contract contained a £65million release clause which could be triggered by certain clubs.
Solanke came through the ranks at Stamford Bridge before moving to Liverpool in 2017 on a free transfer.
A frustrating two-year spell at Anfield came to an end when he joined Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee in 2019, however, the Reds have a 20 per cent sell-on clause for the striker.
That will allow Liverpool to get a tidy £9m sum due to Spurs meeting Solanke's release clause.
He missed England's squad for Euro 2024 but is hopeful the move will help him get back into contention.
Solanke will become Tottenham's third signing of the season following the arrivals of Archie Gray from Leeds and Lucas Bergvall from Djurgarden.
Spurs have previously shown interest in the Brentford striker. Ivan Toney as reported by talkSPORT on Thursday.
Postecoglou looks better equipped to launch Tottenham's Premier League campaign after a difficult start at the club 12 months ago.
The Australian was awash with speculation over Kane's future after arriving at the club, only to see the striker complete his transfer to Bayern Munich on the eve of the Premier League season.
Spurs were forced to share the goalscoring responsibilities in an attempt to fill the void left by the club's all-time leading scorer.
Although Spurs were able to secure Europa League qualification in Kane's absence, Solanke's arrival will boost the club's hopes of returning to the Champions League.
And former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara believes Solanke could be the key to ending the club's trophy drought.
He wrote on X: “Solanke is a great signing, he's quick, can finish, hold on, plays very well, tries his best and has something to prove. He's worth the transfer fee. Can't wait for the season to start now, the great Ange will deliver us a trophy.”
Tottenham kick off the Premier League season with a visit to newly promoted side Leicester City on August 19th.
