Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly more likely to sign Brentford star Ivan Toney instead of Dominic Solanke this summer, according to transfer well-informed person Dean Jones.
The Lilywhites are said to be interested in signing a new striker in this transfer window to bolster their attacking line. Several names have been talked about as being in contention for Spurs in recent weeks, but Solanke has started to emerge as the leading option.
He It has even been reported Tottenham have opened talks to sign him, but the player has a £65m release clause in his current contract and the Cherries do not want to let their star player leave unless his potential suitors activate the clause.
Now, speaking of Podcast of the FC Rankings Ultras, Jones has reported that it is highly unlikely that Spurs will be able to spend that much money to sign him unless they raise funds by selling Richarlison.
So, the journalist says it is more realistic for the Lilywhites to sign Toney this summer as he is available for an affordable price.

“He (Solanke) is too expensive, he costs £65m, if Richarlison leaves Tottenham then maybe, but without that I don’t see how it’s plausible, I would say Ivan Toney is much more realistic.”
It has been suggested that Brentford would be willing to cash in on Toney this summer if they receive an offer of around 40 million poundsHe has entered the final year of his current contract and does not want to renew in order to take the next step in his career.
Toney has demonstrated his goalscoring ability in the Premier league in recent years, so he would be an excellent acquisition for the north London club if they buy him.
However, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham ultimately opt to make a concrete approach to sign Toney before the end of this window.
After finishing fifth in the Premier League last season, Ange Postecoglou made it clear that he wanted to strengthen the squad this summer in order to build a team that can challenge for major prizes in the future.
