According Talk SPORT, Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs considering the possibility of signing Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke in the summer.
Spurs have made a bright start to 2023/24 first division campaign under the command of coach Ange Postecoglou and there was talk of them fighting for the title together with city of manchester. However, the club was unable to maintain the early season momentum and had a poor end to the campaign by missing Champions League football.
talkSPORT now reveals that Postecoglou is looking for a new number 9 and is willing to offload Richarlison to recoup some of the necessary funds. Solanke has become the north London giants' top target but it could take a big push to lure him away from the Cherries this summer.
Suitable striker
Spurs made the big decision to part ways with Harry Kane last summer but failed to sign a replacement. Son Heung-min and Richarlison shared the centre-forward duties, but neither was consistent enough. Richarlison had a good scoring streak in December and January, but he was able to sustain it amid injuries and poor form.
The Brazilian has scored just 12 goals in 55 league games for Spurs and we will not be surprised if the club are prepared to cut losses on him. Solanke would be a good striker to replace him as he proved his credentials in the Premier League last season. He was ever-present for the Cherries, scoring 19 goals (21 in all competitions).
Solanke has become a true striker after scoring just nine goals in his previous two top-flight campaigns. Talk SPORT have not provided the asking price for Cherries, but it was previously reported that the south coast outfit could be willing to approve its sale for around £50 million this summer.
Spurs should be able to afford the fee, considering they are one of the best-run clubs when it comes to profitability and sustainability rules. The club can lose another £250 million without worrying about exceeding spending limits.
