Tottenham could sign Albert Gudmundsson for just 21 million pounds
Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly sign Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson for just £21m this summer, according to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
It has been suggested that the Lilywhites have been in the most comfortable situation regarding FFP regulations. So after shining big last summer, they were one of the few English clubs active in the winter window.
It has been reported that, taking advantage of their current financial situation, they could look to strengthen several areas of the team in the next window to close the gap with players such as city of manchester, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Tottenham could reportedly look to strengthen their defensive line and engine room during the off-season, but it is apparently also on their agenda to strengthen the attack by signing a new striker.
After cashing in on Harry Kane last summer, Spurs are yet to sign anyone to replace the Englishman. But it has been suggested that they might finally try to do so this summer.
Gudmundsson to Tottenham
A number of forwards have been linked with a move to the newly refurbished White Hart Lane ahead of the summer window, including Ivan Toney and Santiago Giménez, but Gudmundsson is supposedly on your radar also.
The Iceland international has burst onto the scene of late after enjoying a promising campaign with Genoa this season. So, it seems that after being impressed by the 26-year-old's recent performances, Spurs have shown their interest in signing him.
Now, writing in x, Roman has reported that Genoa “anticipate that significant offers could come in” for Gudmundsson this summer after his eye-catching performances this season. So, the Spurs could opt to make a formal approach to acquire his service during the offseason.
The journalist further claims that Genoa could let their star leave for a fee of at least £21m so that Spurs could secure his signature for a reasonable sum. However, Roman claims that Tottenham or any other club have not yet started any “concrete conversations” with the Italian club, so it remains to be seen if things change in the coming months.
Romano wrote:
“Genoa anticipates important offers for Albert Gudmundsson this summer after an excellent season, but has not yet started concrete talks with any club. The price is expected to be around 25/30 million euros and Genoa could also be open to including players in the deal.”
Gudmundsson could be an ideal player to play in Ange Postecoglou's high-pressure system if he is bought out. But it will be interesting to see if the north London club ultimately opt to take a concrete approach to acquiring his service this summer.
