Tottenham Hotspur reportedly held talks over a deal to sign Chelsea Lecce's target and star Patrick Dorgu this summer, according to the transfer expert Fabricius Romano.
Destiny Udogie has established himself as Ange Postecoglou's first-choice left-back since joining from Udinese. Ben Davies remains at the club and is the Italian's understudy, but his current contract is due to expire at the end of this season.
The 31-year-old has struggled to find game time under the Australian manager, so Spurs may not opt to offer him a new contract. Therefore, it seems that Tottenham are exploring the market to sign Davies.
In unknown, Roman Tottenham have reportedly had Dorgu on their wishlist as a serious option to reinforce their left-back position and have even held talks with Lecce to secure the 19-year-old's signature this summer.
However, the deal fell through as the Italian side wanted at least £25m to let him go, but Spurs felt the price was too high. Now, it remains to be seen whether they choose to rekindle their interest in signing him next year.

Romano says Chelsea were also interested in Dorgu but were looking to sign him on loan to Strasbourg, who have the same ownership as the west London club, to develop him before a move to Stamford Bridge in 2025.
Romano said:
“I understand that Tottenham had Lecce full-back Patrick Dorgu on their shortlist this summer. Chelsea also considered signing the 2004-born left-back from Strasbourg in July. Negotiations failed to progress as Lecce wanted more than €30-35m for Dorgu, who scored his first goal for Denmark this week.”
Chelsea already have Marc Cucurella and Renato Veiga at their disposal, while Levi Colwill can cover this position if needed. They therefore do not need to sign a new left-back, but they have been signing young talents from around the world and now have their sights set on Dorgu.
The Dane played for Lecce last season but has established himself as a regular starter this term, starting all three Serie A games. After that, he was called up to play for Denmark in this international break and scored a goal on his debut against Switzerland.
