Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres, according to the Spanish outlet. Transfers.

After cashing in on Harry Kane last summer, the Lilywhites initially opted not to sign a new striker to replace the Englishman. However, Ange Postecoglou bought Dominic Solanke from AFC Bournemouth for a club record fee of £65m this summer.

After starting the season slowly, he has scored three goals in his last three games for Spurs in all competitions. However, it appears that Tottenham are planning to add more depth at the centre-forward position, with Richarlison failing to find his place at the club following a big-money move from Everton.

Transfers reports that Tottenham are “more insistent” on signing Gyokeres and that they could try to sign him next summer, as the forward will leave the José Alvalade stadium at the end of this season.

However, acquiring the Swedish international will not be cheap for the north London club as he has an £84 million (€100 million) release clause in his current contract.

Gyokeres to Tottenham

The striker has been in excellent form in front of goal in recent times. He scored 43 goals and registered 15 assists in 50 appearances in all competitions last season. The 26-year-old has also made a stellar start to this season, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists in nine appearances in all competitions.

Gyokeres played a key role in the Lions' title-winning campaign last season and Ruben Amorim's side have shown signs they can defend their title this season, having won all seven league games so far.

The ability to score goals is not the only specialty that Gyokeres has, as he is fast, strong and good in the air. He can link play, create opportunities for his attacking teammates and also works very hard out of possession.

If Tottenham finally manage to secure his signature in 2025, it would be a huge coup. However, having recently broken his transfer record, it will be interesting to see if the north London club opt to break it again next year.

Meanwhile, after an impressive 3-0 victory over manchester united in it first divisionTottenham will face Ferencvaros in the european league before facing Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League before the international break.
