Tottenham have joined the race to sign Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman this summer, as per Football Transfers journalist Steve Kay.
Whilst Kerry Hau reports that Kingsley Coman’s preferred move this summer is Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham have declared an interest in the French winger, joining competition alongside North London rivals, Arsenal and Spanish giants, Barcelona.
Coman played 30 minutes for Bayern in the recent 3-2 friendly victory over Tottenham in London and then 46 minutes in the 3-0 friendly win against Tirol as Bayern warmed up for their opening game of the Bundesliga season against Wolfsburg on August 25th.
However, Bayern Munich are ready to let the Frenchman depart and are open to accepting loan offers with an option or obligation to buy.
Coman, valued at around £43m by Transfermarkt, is an experienced international player and has starred during his time at Bayern with almost 300 appearances, but he made just 17 league appearances last season in an injury-ravaged 2023/24.
Speaking on youtube channel, KS1TV, Kay said that Tottenham are interested in signing Coman and he is represented by CAA base – which is linked to a lot of Spurs players and manager, Ange Postecoglou.
Kay said:
“[He is] A good player, he’s struggling for game time at Bayern at the moment, [there’s] a lot of good players there. There are going to be a lot of clubs after him. I know Spurs are a team looking at him. Interestingly, there he’s a part of CAA Base, which a lot of Spurs players are linked to – as is Ange Postecoglou.”
Tottenham have already spent over £100million on striker, Dominic Solanke from AFC Bournemouth, and midfielders Archie Gray from Leeds United, and Lucas Bergvall from Djurgarden. But, it has been reported that Postecoglou wants a wide attacker before the end of this window.
As well as PSG, Postecoglou will be competing with Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Barcelona’s Hansi Flick.
Arsenal are already in contact with Bayern as Arteta looks to reinforce the wings before the end of this window but Coman’s gametime may be less assured.
It has recently revealed that Barcelona have also joined the race to sign Coman as an alternative to Nico Williams.
Flick has the advantage of having worked with Coman at Bayern Munich from 2019 to 2021.
This transfer saga is only just beginning.
