Tottenham Hotspur reportedly plan to accelerate their efforts to sign Liverpool Target and Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly this summer, according to Soccer insider information.

Despite entering the final months of his current contract, the 25-year-old has not yet decided to sign a new deal. So the Cherries are currently at risk of losing their star man for free.

Therefore, it seems that Tottenham and Liverpool are seeking to sign Kelly by taking advantage of their current situation. According to the report of Soccer insider informationBournemouth have offered multiple offers to Kelly to sign an extension but he has not accepted any of them.

The report further claims that Liverpool are interested in signing the defender, but Tottenham are looking to one-up the Reds by starting formal talks with the player's representatives over a potential summer swoop. So, it looks like the Spurs are currently ahead of the Reds in this race.

Soccer insider information also states that, in addition to Liverpool and Tottenham, Newcastle UnitedEditAC Milan, Juventus and several German clubs are also interested in acquiring Kelly's services.

Ange Postecoglou likes to deploy a left-footed defender on the left side of the defense. However, the Australian coach has no other option at his disposal apart from Micky van de Ven to do so.

Although Postecoglou used Ben Davies in this area this season amid Van de Ven's absence, the Welshman is not a specialist centre-back. So signing a new defender to add depth to the centre-back position would be the right decision and Kelly could be a smart choice.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are also reportedly looking to sign a new defender as a possible replacement for Joel Matip, who has entered the final months of his current contract and could leave on a free this summer.

Kelly, who stands 6ft 3ins tall, is a versatile player as he has centre-back traits but can also be deployed in the left-back position. He is fast, strong, good in the air, comfortable playing from the back, efficient in defensive contributions and also reads the game well.

The Bournemouth star is a talented player and could be a shrewd signing for Tottenham or Liverpool if either club snaps him up. However, it will be interesting to see if the north London club will finally be able to sign Kelly by beating Liverpool in this race.
