Tottenham's wonderkid surpasses Lamine Yamal's statistics but they won't be able to play with him until next season

Tottenham are looking for reinforcements in the January transfer market, but one player will prevent them from spending a lot.

Spurs are reportedly targeting a goalkeeper, centre-back and attacking options as they look to save their season.

Luka Vuskovic is only 17 years old, but the Croatian centre-back is impressing at Westerlo in Belgium.

You might think it's due to his aerial prowess or his excellent positioning and well-timed challenges.

It could even be thanks to his ability in possession, with his passing stats suggesting he has what it takes to be a good young ball-playing defender.

However, it is actually his ability in front of goal that has fans (and neutrals) talking about his talent.

The 6ft 4in teenager saw the ball come back his way and in the middle of the box, with impeccable technique, dived acrobatically towards the back of the box.

It would have been an outstanding goal for any footballer, let alone a defender.

And the stats don't lie about his prowess in front of goal either: he's the top-scoring teenager in Europe's top 10 leagues this season.

His six for the campaign put him one ahead Barcelona wonder boy Lamina Yamal – Not bad company to have.

But Vuskovic does not get ahead of himself and revealed it in an interview after knowing that he still has to improve, especially if he wants to succeed in Postecoglou's team.

He said: “In my game, I am satisfied with everything except one thing: speed. I work to improve it every day.”

Meanwhile, on his time at Tottenham, he added: “I'm happy at Westerlo. I think it's the right move for my career.”

And he is keen to make a big impact in 2025 with his impressive ambitions for a 17-year-old.

When asked about his goals, he replied: “To play for the Croatian senior team and for Tottenham.

“I hope to be ready for Tottenham in the summer.

“They haven't told me the exact plan for the new season yet. They just told me to focus on each upcoming game, and I'm doing that.”

Unfortunately for Spurs, they couldn't play Vuskovic even if they called him up due to FIFA rules.

He arrived from Hajduk Split in September 2023 to a deal worth up to £12 million.

However, following the UK's departure from the EU in 2020, overseas players cannot join until they turn 18.
