The Cameroon international has 150 Premier League appearances and was part of the Liverpool side that won the title in 2019/20.
He would also bring a wealth of European experience to the club, having made 54 Champions League appearances and 19 Europa League appearances.
He was part of the Reds side that won European Cup in 2018/19 and finished runners-up in 2021/22, as well as lifting the UEFA Super Cup in 2019.

Isaac Hayden's hopes of playing at the 2026 World Cup have suffered a blow after being left out NewcastlePremier League squad.
Hayden, who has been in the St James Park squad since 2016, making over 150 league appearances, is one of a number of British-born players to Newly appointed Jamaica boss Steve McClaren I would like to call the Reggae Boyz.
But it remains to be seen whether McClaren will choose Hayden knowing that he will not be able to play for any club until January at the earliest.
The 29-year-old is the only senior Newcastle player not included in the 25-man squad unveiled on Friday, with the expectation that he will land a loan earlier in the transfer window.
Hayden has not played competitively for the Magpies since December 2021, having since spent time on loan at Championship clubs Norwich and Queens Park Rangers, as well as Belgian side Standard Liege.

The Exeter-born winger is under contract until the summer of 2026 and the Saints have a one-year option included in the deal.
