Marc Guehi's links with a possible exit from Crystal Palace aren't going away anytime soon, and this time there could be competition.

Eagles chairman Steve Parish has been applauded for rejecting Newcastle's advances for Marc Guehi but is prepared for a fresh fight to keep his star defender in January and next summer.

Newcastle were confident of getting Guehi out of Selhurst Park after Submitting a bid worth a club record deal of £70monly for Parish to increase his asking price to £75m at the last minute.

The Eagles' stance was helped by the fact Guehi, who has captained Palace in their first three Premier League games, was not actively lobbying for the move.

However, talkSPORT has learned that Guehi is in no rush to extend his contract, which expires at the end of next season.

Not only does that open the door for Newcastle to come back with a new offer, but it will also put players like Liverpool and Chelsea on alert.

Southampton forked out a club-record £22m to sign Sulemana from Rennes in February 2023, but has been a huge disappointment for the club having managed just two goals in 44 appearances.
