Transfer Report: Maguire stays at Manchester United, Chilwell could join Chelsea exodus, West Ham open to offers for Ings
Harry Maguire has decided to stay and fight for his place at Manchester United, talkSPORT understands.
Former Old Trafford captain Maguire could find himself as a fourth choice centre-back after… Summer signings of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt.
But with Yoro already ruled out for the first three months of the season, and given United's injury problems since the start of last season, the England star believes he will still have plenty of opportunities to stake a claim for a place in the starting XI.
The 31-year-old partnered veteran Jonny Evans at the heart of United's defence in Saturday's game. Penalty shootout defeat against Manchester City in the Community Shield, and is in a position to keep his place for Friday's Premier League opener against Fulham.
Maguire's stance on his future means Manchester United They're likely to activate a one-year extension on his contract, rather than risk losing him as a free agent next summer.
Chilwell on the move?
Ben Chilwell is a player to watch out for between now and the end of the transfer window.
The left back has been one of the first victims of From Chelsea a summer managerial change, with limited playing time during pre-season and a frank admission from new Blues boss Enzo Maresca that he does not fit his style of play.
The 27-year-old England international, who attracted some interest from Manchester United a few weeks ago, is understandably frustrated with the situation given that, when fit, he has been a guaranteed starter throughout his time at Stamford Bridge.
talkSPORT understands he is assessing his options and the Chelsea board are unlikely to stand in Chilwell's way if they receive a suitable offer between now and August 30.
From the club's perspective the situation is similar with Raheem Sterling, although sources close to the 29-year-old winger insist he is focused on performing for Maresca and Chelsea with three years still left on his contract.
The Palace stood firm
Crystal Palace are willing to hand defender Joachim Andersen a new contract to prevent him becoming the latest star to be lured away from Selhurst Park.
Andersen has just two years left on his contract and has already been the subject of a £20m bid from Palace's London rivals Fulham in this transfer window.
With fellow centre-back Marc Guehi edging ever closer to signing for Newcastle and Michael Olise already soldThe Eagles are keen to retain Danish international Andersen.
The former Lyon star is also believed to be well established in south London.
Waiting at the Ings
West Ham are willing to let Danny Ings leave on a free transfer to get his wages off their shoulders.
The Hammers are desperate to get rid of Ings, who has scored just three Premier League goals in 37 games since joining for £15million from Aston Villa in January 2023.
Ings is believed to have rejected a return to his former club Southampton at the start of the transfer window and his wages of around £130,000 a week are proving to be a major barrier to his departure.
EastEnders are also willing to let former captain Kurt Zouma walk out of the final year of his contract to pave the way for a move to the Middle East as sporting director Tim Steidten continues to overhaul the squad.
Ings has been pushed further down the pecking order by The signing of German striker Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
