Chelsea They are keen to get rid of Chalobah and are taking a ruthless approach to trimming their squad ahead of the new season.

The Blues believe that by adopting this stance they are avoiding giving the player false hopes of playing in the first team.

The defender has four years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Chalobah had already been left out of Chelsea's pre-season squad for their summer tour, and the club have made it abundantly clear that his future lies away from the club.

As a result, the 25-year-old will now be keen to secure a transfer away from Chelsea, with interest likely to come from the Premier League and across Europe.

However, with a lucrative deal that doesn't expire until 2028, Chalobah isn't leaving just for the sake of it and can afford to be choosy when choosing his next destination.

Chalobah, who came through the youth team in west London, is a big favourite with supporters.

The defender has made 80 appearances in Chelsea's first game, scoring five goals in the process.

If he leaves this summer, he will follow in the footsteps of another high-profile academy graduate.

Gallagher had just one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea also banished him from the first team as they looked to force him out.

Chelsea have already sold Ian Maatsen, Omari Hutchinson and Lewis Hall this summer.

Thiago Silva, Hakim Ziyech and Malang Sarr have also left the club on free transfers.
