Aston Villa Football Club is deeply saddened by the news that Craig Shakespeare has passed away after a brave battle with cancer.
Craig was a hugely popular and highly respected member of the backroom staff as assistant to Dean Smith and is fondly remembered by all players and staff who worked with him during his time at the club.
Prior to his time at Villa, Craig had helped Leicester City win the Premier League and took charge himself at the King Power Stadium before arriving at Villa Park in the summer of 2020.
He would go on to work alongside Dean Smith again at Norwich City and back at Leicester, most recently.
The heartfelt thoughts of everyone at Aston Villa Football Club are with Craig’s wife Karen and his children Elle and Jed, at this extremely difficult time.
Rest in Peace, Craig.
