Troy Deeney names the six best forwards in the Premier League and Kai Havertz is left out for a specific reason
Kai Havertz may have transformed himself at Arsenal, but he is not at the level of his Premier League rivals.
That is the view of Watford icon Troy Deeney, who has omitted the Arsenal star by naming his six best Premier League forwards.
Having swapped Chelsea for Arsenal last summer for £65million, Havertz struggled when deployed in a central midfield role, before dazzling when chosen to lead the line for Mikel Arteta since January.
He finished last season with 13 top-flight goals, five more than the most he achieved in a single campaign during his three years at Stamford Bridge.
And with seven goals this season, the German all-rounder is on the verge of equaling his total from last season.
However, he has not convinced the talkSPORT expert. Deeney that he is an absolute center forward, and that the 25-year-old is notably excluded from his list.
Giving his reasoning for why he doesn't include him on his list, Deeney simply told talkSPORT.com: “I don't rank Havertz As a striker, I'm sorry.”
As expected, Deeney, who has received punishment for claiming Mohamed Salah It's not world class.chose to name city of manchester Shooter Erling Haaland is the best in the division.
The Norwegian international is on track to become the first player since Henry Thierry in 2006 to win three consecutive Premier League Golden Boot awards.
Haaland He already has 12 goals in his first 11 games and shows no signs of slowing down.
Commenting on the former Borussia Dortmund talisman, Deeney said: “Erling Haaland is number one, that's obvious, he's head and shoulders above everyone.”
Deeney then proceeded to name his top five forwards after Haaland, opting to include a benchwarmer instead of Havertz; Here's who he named.
Nicolas Jackson – Chelsea
“I'm not sure if he can stay there, I know everyone will say, 'Oh, he's changed.'
“But the style of play has changed, he commits a lot of offsides and doesn't take advantage of many of his opportunities.
“But when he scores, he does it in bunches.”
Darwin Núñez – Liverpool
“Darwin Nunez It's the same (as Jackson), he's offside a lot.
“It's great for the team, every chance you expect him to score, he misses.
“And the harder he scores, it's like you're just trying to slow him down.
“But he's an incredible player.”
Jhon Duran – Aston Villa
“Juan Duran Just write down every fucking 20 minutes, it's a joke.
“But he has a lot to learn and he has been very short-term at the moment.
“What happens in the first year is that you get away with it, in the second, third and fourth year, people start planning to stop you.
“He's having that luxury right now.”
Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa
“ollie He obviously had a very good season last year, but he struggled at the beginning of this year.
“I would like to see him be a little more consistent.
“What do you look for in a forward? I look for opportunities created versus opportunities scored.
“Obviously you're going to lose more than you score, it's just the nature of the beast.
“But I don't feel safe when playing one-on-one.”
Alexander Isak – Newcastle
“He's a finisher. I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea got him.
“But basically they've spent a lot of money all over the world.
“So I don't know if they would go again, but Isaac “He is a suitable finisher.”
