Union Berlin make offer for Bochum left-back Bernardo

Sky Germany reports that Union Berlin have made their first offer for Bochum left-back Bernardo, but the offer was rejected by the Ruhr side.

The first offer was rejected by Bochum as they want a fee close to €7m for the Brazilian, who has a contract at the club until 2026. The clubs are still in negotiations over a potential move for Bernardo. Last season, the 29-year-old was statistically one of the best left-backs in the league despite playing for Bochum who fought relegation for most of the season.

Borussia Mönchengladbach have also previously shown interest in Bernardo, however, for them they are currently unable to make any offer before they sell players.

The movement of Bernardo could affect the future of Sead Kolasinac who has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga as several clubs have enquired about his future at Europa League winners Atalanta. The Bosnian and Bernardo are similar in their versatility across the backline.
