Valencia were left reeling after the horrific injury suffered by defender Mouctar Diakhaby during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Real Madrid at the Mestalla. The 27-year-old suffered a dislocated knee following an unfortunate clash with Aurelien Tchouameni, and has been ruled out for the rest of the season as a result.
On Thursday, Diakhaby underwent successful surgery on his knee, which means he can now begin his recovery. Valencia has since received more good news about it, as it was reported by Sport that the Guinean international has not suffered damage to his meniscus or cartilage.
This should mean Diakhaby returns to action sooner than expected, as initial diagnoses suggest he could be out of action for around 12 months. Now, there might even be a chance he'll be back for the start of next season.
For now, Diakhaby's full focus will be on recovery, although he will have a target date in mind for his return. Valencia he will be by his side the whole way.
