Aston Villa is delighted to announce the club will be returning to the United States of America this pre-season for a three-game tour across three cities.
The Stateside trip kicks off in Ohio against MLS Champions Columbus Crew on Saturday, July 27 at Lower.com Field (8pm KO local time), before a match-up with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Wednesday, July 31 (8pm KO local time).
Based in Washington for the first part of the tour in the USA, Unai Emery’s men will round off the visit with three days in Chicago and a match against Liga MX Champions Club América, facing the Mexican giants at the Windy City’s Soldier Field on Saturday, August 3 (4.30pm KO local time).
Following on from last season’s success at the Premier League’s Summer Series in America, President of Business Operations Chris Heck is excited at the prospect of a return across the Atlantic.
He said: “Our 150-year anniversary tour will help drive the club’s global agenda of showcasing Aston Villa to great cities in the US and Europe.
“Back on top, with an international stage, we will kick off a most memorable year for our great fans and global sponsors.
“It’s a most exciting time to be a Villan!”
There is a glamour European clash once returning from America for Emery’s side when they travel to Germany to take on Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, August 10 (5pm KO local time). There is also the annual pre-season opener at Walsall on Wednesday, July 17 (7.30pm KO).
The club also hope to announce an additional domestic fixture in due course.
