- Aston Villa Vs. Bologna – Tue, Oct 22nd 2024, 20:00
Aston Villa maintained their perfect start in this season’s Champions League on Tuesday night, with a 2-0 victory over Bologna.
Unai Emery masterminded another memorable European evening in B6, as second-half goals from John McGinn and Jhon Durán were enough to seal the three points in the league stage.
Villa are now the only side to have won all three games they have played this season, and became only the third side since the competition’s rebrand in 1992/93 to win each of their opening three matches without conceding – after Málaga in 2012/13 and Leicester City in 2016/17.
It was another magical occasion at Villa Park, with a lights show, fireworks and a huge lions tifo banner in the Holte End accompanying the famous Champions League anthem, as Emery’s men extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions.
Boubacar Kamara also made a long-awaited return from injury, while Tyrone Mings was included in a senior matchday squad for the first time in over a year.
