Aston Villa hosted a Christmas Carol Service at Villa Park earlier this month.

Club Chaplain Reverend Jon Grant facilitated the event in partnership with Aston Churches Together and Birmingham Churches Together, with over 550 people in attendance.

The assembled audience sang carols, listened to two choirs and were encouraged by a number of keynote speakers.

Threaded throughout the evening were readings of the Christmas story – one of which was by European Cup winner Kenny Swain.

The crowd then moved out onto the Holte End to sing the last few carols a cappella.

As people left, the Aston Parish Bells rang out just as they did in the 1960s, 70s and 80s after every home victory.
