Rachel Daly and Dan Turner have both been nominated for the Barclays WSL’s Goal of the Season award!
A pair of supreme strikes during our 2023/24 campaign have been put forward as contenders for the accolade, with voting now open.
The first of our two nominations is for Daly’s unstoppable winner against West Ham United in November.
The topsy-turvy encounter with the Hammers looked destined for a draw after Lisa Evans drew the hosts level with 10 minutes remaining, but Villa’s never-say-die attitude was on full display.
With 92 minutes on the clock, Maz Pacheco knocked down a lofted pass by Rachel Corsie, and Daly connected beautifully with the bouncing ball and found the top corner to secure three important points for Carla Ward’s side.
Another supreme strike is up for the award, with Turner’s effort against Manchester City included.
Villa travelled north for their penultimate game of 2023 and took an early lead in stunning fashion.
Kenza Dali’s cross from the right-hand side was met by Turner who hooked a right-footed volley into the far corner with surprising ease.
The goals are in with a chance of winning the award along with Cloé Lacasse (v Manchester United), Vivianne Miedema (v Liverpool), Aurora Galli (v West Ham United), Bunny Shaw (v Liverpool), Ella Toone (v Leicester City) and Drew Spence (v West Ham United).
Voting closes at 11am on Tuesday 28th May, so get voting by clicking below!
