Watch: Bayern Munich drop points against Freiburg

Bayern Munich lost ground in the Bundesliga title race on Friday night after dropping points against Freiburg. That means the Rekordmeister could find themselves 10 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen come Sunday evening.

Christian Günter opened the scoring for Freiburg with a superb strike. The 31-year-old missed much of the season after suffering two forearm fractures, which got infected and resulted in a bone graft from the player’s pelvis. The German’s story is an incredible one.

But Mathys Tel, replacing Leroy Sané, equalised for Bayern Munich with an equally good strike less than 20 minutes later before Jamal Musiala put Bayern in the lead 30 minutes into the second-half.

Bayern Munich then failed to defend a throw-in three minutes of time, which resulted in Lucas Höler securing an important point for Freiburg but more importantly, it two points dropped for Bayern.

Speaking after the game, Thomas Tuchel stated that his Bayern side “completely lacked structure” and “were far too undisciplined and deservedly fell behind.”

Bayern Munich now face a must-win game against Lazio in the Champions League before games against struggling Mainz and Darmstadt. After the international break, they host Borussia Dortmund.
