WATCH: Real Valladolid celebrate promotion as coach sings of own resignation, Ronaldo considers sale
The battle for promotion from Segunda to La Liga rarely disappoints, and Real Valladolid they were the first to do this this year, scoring twice in stoppage time with an own goal and the penalty minute of 97 to go up. The events since their 3-2 win over Villarreal B have been equally absurd.
Last year, there was talk of that majority shareholder and icon of Real Madrid Ronaldo Nazario he wanted to sell his stake in the club, and an agreement on terms for a €30-50m deal has also emerged in recent weeks.
After the match, Ronaldo had confirmed that he had three offers on the table, but during the celebrations, “O Fenomeno” seemed less sure of his path, despite the dissatisfaction with his leadership.
“Now I want to stay more than sell and I will think everything before making a decision,” he said Brand.
Meanwhile, manager Paulo Pezzolano, installed by surprise in the final stages of last season during his relegation, also had a curious end to the season. The fans of La Pucela were also frustrated with Pezzolano this season, and they expressed a lot to Jose Zorrilla and the training camp, even during the match in which they secured the promotion.
Celebrating in front of thousands of fans on the balcony of Valladolid Town Hall, Pezzolano took to the microphone to ironically begin the chant “Pezzolano, resign” imitating his detractors. It was met with a mixed reaction from fans below.
These were the bizarre scenes on Monday when the manager of Real Valladolid, Paulo Pezzolano, led the crowd gathered at the Municipal Administration in chants for his resignation.

What will happen with Pezzolano, Ronaldo or the future of Valladolid is still unclear, but they could make those decisions from a position of greater financial security. Pezzolano has clearly done a good job of reviving Valladolid, but his relationship with a section of the fanbase is clearly at breaking point.
