- Aston Villa Vs. Juventus – Wed, Nov 27th 2024, 20:00
Ollie Watkins feels Aston Villa can be content with a point in the UEFA Champions League, having been held to a 0-0 draw by Juventus at Villa Park on Wednesday evening.
Villa and the Bianconeri cancelled each other out over the course of 90 minutes, as Unai Emery’s men kept a fourth clean sheet in five games in this season’s competition.
The England striker classed the result as a positive one given his side’s recent form, and provides them with a platform to continue progressing.
“I think it’s positive,” Watkins reflected immediately after the full-time whistle.
“Obviously, for the fans coming to Champions League nights at Villa Park, they probably want to see a lot of goals, and we do ourselves.
“But the most important thing is that we didn’t lose here. We got a point.
“We’re not in a great moment, so it’s something to build on.”
Watkins also praised Villa’s solidity and spirit, having kept the reigning Coppa Italia champions at bay on matchday five.
And he is already looking forward to the Lions’ next outing at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea on Sunday.
“Juventus are a massive team, and they played well, but we kept it out,” he added.
“To be fair, I think it had a 0-0 game written all over. Now, on to the weekend.”
