“We have a deficit” – the manager of Seville Garcia Pimienta calls for the signing of January

After an unknown start, Seville has steadied the ship in recent weeks. Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta's side have won three of their last five in La Liga, and they also progressed to the second round of the Copa del Rey during the week. While things are looking up, not everything is ideal.

Two weeks ago, Chidera Ejuke suffered a high-grade tear, and is expected to be out for at least three months. Sevilla have been left significantly short in the wing department as a result, and as a result, Garcia Pimienta has publicly called for a new signing to be made in the winter, as per Marco.

“We have a deficit in the number of players after the injury of Ejuke and the loss of Ocampos, which we have not accounted for. We need to strengthen the position of the wing because we do not really have. Specific players that we have are Lukebakio and Stanis Idumbo. I think this position needs to be strengthened because we don't have players here.”

If Seville may have a successful winter transfer window, they could be set for a European push this season. It remains to be seen if they have the financial space to significantly improve.
