West Ham and Southampton in talks over swap deal as manager Julen Lopetegui looks to bolster backline

West Ham are in talks with Southampton over a potential swap deal involving Kyle Walker-Peters and Flynn Downes, talkSPORT understands.

England international right-back Walker-Peters is in the final year of his contract on the south coast.

Meanwhile, midfielder Downes spent last season on loan at St Mary's and the Saints are interested in signing him permanently.

Former Tottenham defender Walker-Peters, who has been at the club since 2020, helped farewell Southampton Returning to the Premier League the first time I asked.
