La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that western ham have entered the transfer market for AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham as they look to sign a replacement for Michail Antonio.
The Jamaican international will bring the curtain down on a long career with the Londoners at the end of June and has left a big void to fill for Julen Lopetegui's team ahead of next season.
Gazzetta adds that Abraham is a realistic option for the Hammers, with Roma planning to sell him this summer to fund their own overhaul of the squad under Danielle de Rossi.
The Serie A giants are resigned to accepting a loss on the sale of Abraham. A fee of around £18.5m is expected to be enough to convince them to sell the England international.
Abraham was a key part of Jose Mourinho's plans at the Stadio Olimpico, but an ACL injury kept him out of action for almost the entire 2023/24 season and ultimately also prevented him from a place at Euro 2024.
Abraham ideal for West Ham
Tammy Abraham scored 27 goals in all competitions for AS Roma in her first season at the club during 2021/22 and was a crucial part of José Mourinho's Conference League-winning team.
Even at Chelsea in 2018/19, his great campaign for the BluesAbraham scored 26 goals in all competitions in 40 appearances to demonstrate his potential as one of England's best strikers.
TO first division A return for the 26-year-old, who is considered surplus to requirements at AS Roma, has been mooted and West Ham would be a good return destination for him.
The Hammers can benefit from their prolific experience playing in two leagues, while Lopetegui's system of playing the ball through the middle can also pay off with a physical striker like Abraham.
Furthermore, £18.5m is a very reasonable investment for a striker who has produced promising numbers and still has the best years of his career ahead of him.
West Ham have not yet entered into concrete talks with AS Roma for Abraham, but will face competition from Aston Villawith Unai Emery equally interested in bringing the former Chelsea star to Birmingham.
