At Dortmund, Fullkrug is playing a leading role and has two years left on his contract. He also plays for a team that is contending for the title and is participating in the Champions League. The same cannot be said if he joins West Ham.
And while Julen Lopetegui will surely have his sights set on leading the team into European competitions, his first transfer window may be too early for him to try and snap up key players from bigger clubs.
It remains to be seen how West Ham progress with their interest in Fullkrug, but it will be a huge surprise if he decides to forgo the luxury of Borussia Dortmund to join the Hammers.
