West Ham They have kidnapped Man UtdThe proposal to sign Noussair Mazraoui after reaching an agreement with Bayern Munich to sign the talented defender, According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany.
According to him transfer The Hammers have agreed a fixed transfer fee of £13m with £3m payable subject to add-ons, making the deal worth up to £16m.
The journalist adds that there is also a “verbal agreement in principle” between West Ham and the Moroccan international. The financial details of the deal are still to be clarified, but all parties are working to reach a resolution soon.
If the deal goes through, Mazraoui will be the first major signing of the Julen Lopetegui era at the London Stadium and it is not hard to see why the manager would want to sign a right-back.
Vladimir Coufal is already 30 years old and needed to be replaced sooner rather than later. Mazraoui is an excellent option as he is only 26 years old and will be joining from a club with a winning pedigree like Bayern Munich, who also had a lot of success at Ajax Amsterdam.
West Ham will be pleased to have agreed a transfer fee for the defender at a reasonable sum, although details of the wages he will receive in England have yet to emerge.
Manchester United is out
Manchester United are on the verge of losing Mazraoui to West Ham. The Red Devils were interested in signing the full-back but needed to sell first before any deal could be finalised.
United have already spent more than £75m on Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro this summer without making a single sale of note, so they need to offload some players before they can afford another new signing.
Mazraoui's move to London is already well underway, so it seems highly unlikely that Manchester United will be able to derail him at this stage. He will also be guaranteed a starting place at West Ham given Coufal's age, but that may not have been the case at Manchester United, where Mazraoui would have been competing with Diogo Dalot.
The Hammers are building an exciting squad following the departure of David Moyes, with Mazraoui the star signing. As for United, it remains to be seen what other options they will consider in the coming weeks.
