West Ham sign Reiss Nelson from Arsenal and agree a deal with Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo

West Ham are leading the race to sign Arsenal star Reiss Nelson, talkSPORT understands.

Nelson, who is valued at £25million, wants to leave Arsenal this summer after becoming frustrated with a lack of playing time.

Crystal Palace are looking to sign a replacement for Michael Olise, who He went to Bayern Munich Earlier this month, they were also interested in the former England Under-21 international.

The 24-year-old has struggled to get regular minutes for Mikel Arteta's side but is under contract until 2027.

West Ham have also reached an agreement with Nice for defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

The deal is a loan with an option to buy for £27m, although Todibo is also attracting interest from elsewhere.

Juventus are currently the leading candidates to sign him and the expectation is that he will join the Serie A giants.

However, that has not stopped West Ham from negotiating with Nice and they are working to tempt Todibo to London.

Manchester United had been tracking the defender but any prospect of a deal was limited by UEFA rules relating to the shared ownership of United and Nice.

New Hammers manager Julen Lopetegui, who replaced David Moyes this summer, has already recruited three new players.

Max Kilman joined from Wolves for £40m, while Luis Guilherme arrived from Palmeiras for an undisclosed fee and Wes Foderingham signed for free.

Meanwhile, target Nelson came through the Arsenal academy and made his first-team debut in 2017.

He signed a new four-year contract ahead of the start of the 2023/24 season, with Arteta highlighting how “important” Nelson was to the team and his “quality”.

However, he only started once in the Premier League last season, making 24 appearances in all competitions in total.

Nelson scored one goal (in the 1-0 League Cup win over Brentford) and provided three assists during the season.

Speaking after the FA Cup clash against Liverpool, he said: “It's good to come off the bench, but I want to start.”

“I feel like I'm proving myself every day in training, so with this momentum I want to keep going and play more.”

talkSPORT also reported Brighton were interested in Nelson in March.
