What is the Assistant Manager chip in Fantasy Premier League? A new boost will be introduced for players
The Fantasy Premier League is preparing to introduce a new chip to the game that should benefit players.
FPL participants can already use Bench Boost, Triple Captain, Wildcard and Free Hit, but soon they will also be able to have an Assistant Manager.
This will see Premier League managers introduced to the FPL for the first time.
However, they come at a cost and players will need to rebalance their teams if they want to use an assistant manager.
What is the Assistant Manager?
The new chip will allow players to earn points from real Premier League head coaches based on wins, draws, goals and clean sheets.
It will be available starting in game week 24, which is scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 1.
It will then be available from then until the end of the season.
But this chip doesn't last just a week like Free Hit, Triple Captain or Bench Boost.
Instead, it remains active for three consecutive weeks, meaning players can check the match list and plan when it is best to deploy the assistant manager.
How does it work?
Once activated, the Assistant Manager is the only chip you can use for the next three weeks of play.
Points are directly related to the club's performance and cannot be captained.
The points are broken down as follows.
- Team victory = six points
- Team ties = three points
- Goal scored per team = one point per goal
- Team clean sheet = two points
- Table bonus: If your chosen manager faces a club ranked at least five places higher in the Premier League table at the start of the game week, you will get extra points for a win, i.e. 16 in total, or five additional points for a tie. , so eight in total
That last part is interesting and should stop everyone from picking coaches from the current top six.
In double game weeks, assistant managers can earn double points, but it would still only count as one game week.
Again, this will lead us to think a lot and try to be creative about when to deploy this chip.
But the assistant manager does fall within the quota of three players per club, which means that someone cannot have Arne Slot, Mohamed SalahLuis Diaz and Trent Alexander-ArnoldFor example.
One of them would have to be sacrificed to get Slot.
Do you have to pay?
Yes, each Assistant Manager has a fixed fee and, to pay it, you must use money from your budget.
This could mean having to reorganize your team or make a sale to give you the manager you want.
