When does the Saudi Pro League transfer window end and can Premier League clubs still sell after the deadline?
In recent times, the Saudi Pro League has become a place where Premier League clubs can get rid of their mediocre players.
However, their transfer window will close much earlier this year, which could have a negative impact on top-flight teams.
Four of the league's teams are funded by Newcastle UnitedThe company's majority owners, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).
Combine this with the fact that there are no financial rules and you get a very powerful player in the transfer market.
But compared to last year, they will have less time to exercise their financial muscles.
When does the Saudi Pro League transfer window close?
There are suggestions that the Saudi Pro League transfer window will remain open until October 6 this year.
However, talkSPORT understands that is not the case, with the window set to close on Monday, September 2.
This is five days less than the 2023 summer window, which closed on September 7.
Combine this with the fact that the Premier League transfer window closes early. Friday, August 30thAnd you have an interesting situation.
Since PIF acquired Al Nassr, Al Ahli, Al Hilal and Al Ittihad in the summer of 2023, Saudi Arabian clubs have saved many Premier League teams by paying inflated fees for their mediocre players.
Chelsea and Liverpool are among the teams that have sold players to Saudi clubs.
And with PSR still tight for many teams across the league, the opportunity to sell players to Saudi Arabian teams is attractive.
But time is now running out for top-flight clubs to follow suit.
Will Premier League clubs be able to continue selling to Saudi Arabia after the deadline?
Yes, they can.
The closure of the Premier League transfer window marks the end of the season for top-flight clubs to buy players.
Any transfer window that remains open longer will still be able to buy Premier League players, but selling clubs will not be able to replace them until January.
However, clubs with bloated squads could use the Saudi Pro League as an opportunity to shed some dead weight.
But in reality they will only have three extra days this year to make those changes.
