Newcastle will reportedly demand a Premier League record fee for Alexander Isak.

The telegraph claim the Magpies have slapped a £150m price tag on their star striker to try to fend off January transfer interest.

This would break the current Premier League record of £115 million that Chelsea paid for Moisés Caicedo.

This is the same figure that Newcastle quoted the Blues in the summer to avoid transfer interest.

Isak is the most popular striker in the top flight at the moment, scoring seven goals in his last five games.

Only Mohamed Salah (16), Erling Haaland (13), and Cole Palmer (12) have scored more than Isak's 11 so far this campaign.

Newcastle are keen to retain the striker amid strong interest from Premier League rivals.

Arsenal They have been the club most linked to the Swedish international, but are likely to resist that price.

talkSPORT understands Newcastle are under pressure to sell due to profit and sustainability (PSR) pressures.

Us reported earlier this month that the club is prepared for offers for Bruno Guimaraes amid interest from Manchester City.

Isak is another of their most prized assets that could attract offers once the transfer window opens.

talkSPORT presenter Henry Winter told the Sunday edition: “Where did they get the figure from? Where do you get £150 million from? He has three years left on his contract.

“£150m is a good round figure, but there are also problems with PSR, they already went through it with Elliot Anderson.

“If it is 150 million pounds, where does the negotiation begin? Arsenal should be interested because they need a center forward and their budget is around 80 million for a top striker. Where are you going with £150m?

“Basically I think Isak is not going to leave.”

Newcastle will be next in action on December 30 against manchester united at Old Trafford.
