Maddison left The foxes following their relegation from the top flight in 2023 and joined Spurs in a deal worth more than £40m.

However, despite his huge impact at Leicester, his fans are still likely to boo him tonight and here's why…
Why are Leicester fans booing Maddison?
Maddison was a fan favourite at the King Power during his five-year spell at the club, but things took a turn for the worse during the Foxes' unprecedented relegation season from the Premier League.

Many fans had been incredibly concerned about the relegation, as their team's performances after the World Cup in Qatar had been getting worse and worse.
In March 2023, they were defeated 1-0 in a crucial clash against Southamptonextending their streak without conceding a goal to 10 consecutive games.
Fans were left wondering whether the team realised the gravity of the relegation battle they were in and the media were not predicting any change.
However, one specific article claiming Leicester “caved under pressure” must have affected Maddison more than others, as the midfielder decided to take out his anger.
Quoting X's article, he wrote: “Nonsense. Watch and analyse the match properly and stop writing headlines like that which, as you know, makes fans full of negativity.
“If we play like this, we'll be fine. We created a lot of brilliant chances and won comfortably on another day.”
This post angered many Leicester fans, who thought it revealed how the Foxes squad thought they were too good for relegation and could not deal with the criticism.
And of course, at the end of the season they ended up relegated, and fans still mention Maddison's now-ironic tweet to this day.
To make matters worse for the England international, after that X post, he made two glaring mistakes that led to losing crucial points.
Against Bournemouth, he was forced to apologise after making a back pass straight to Philip Billing, who scored and won the game for the Cherries.
So against Everton In a game that had them on the brink of relegation, he missed a decisive penalty that put Leicester 3-1 up in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Combine that with a number of allegations of misconduct, and Maddison's reputation at the club had been forgotten.
And even though fans have since calmed down and remember him fondly, they can still make their feelings known.
Not all supporters will be, however, as he of course played a major role in the Foxes' success before their relegation.
Former Leicester winger Marc Albrighton He hopes the positives of the club outweigh the negatives, but he's not sure that will be the case.
Albrighton told talkSPORT: “I think if we can look back at the things he's done for the club, obviously the FA Cup win was crucial.
“He was brilliant that season and scored some very important goals for the club. When he was there, he gave everything for the shirt.”
“I think it’s important for the club and the fans to remember those moments and I hope it gets a warm reception, although I’m not too sure.”
