Dan Burn has proven to be a revelation for Newcastle in recent seasons and his sheer size makes him difficult to miss.

But as his crunching tackles and dressing room dances keep him in the spotlight, many fans were shocked to discover that the Magpies' 6ft 7in colossus is actually missing a finger.

Attention has been focused on Burn since he sealed a £13million move from Brighton back to his boyhood club in the January 2022 transfer window.

The former Fulham star is reportedly left without his ring finger following an accident he was involved in as a teenager.

When he was just 13, Burn was wearing a ring while climbing a fence when he got caught on a spike, according to The free library.

The gruesome incident resulted in his finger being ripped off, which must have been a horrible moment for the young man.

But Burn has more than overcome adversity to succeed as a professional and eventually become a fan favorite at St James' Park.

Burn, from Blyth, Northumberland, is a stalwart of the Howe team and recently spoke about his future.

He said: “I would love to finish my career here.

“I moved back home now, my kids are back with their family, we get to see our family a lot and it was always the plan to finish my degree here.

“We just have to wait and see, we have a lot of very good players here and we are on that upward trajectory, so you have to keep trying to do it as much as you can.

“I feel like I've been playing well, I'm not a player who's just going to be happy being a good coach and sitting on the bench.

“I want to play and I think I can play on this team.”
