Why do Aston Villa wear a unique shirt against Spartak Trnava? Unai Emery's team wear white for the friendly match in Slovakia
Aston Villa will once again wear a special kit for their second pre-season game against Spartak Trnava in Slovakia this weekend.
Unai Emery's team are stepping up their preparations for the Premier League campaign with the return of the Champions League.
In the club's first friendly on Wednesday, they beat Walsall 3-0 and did so wearing a completely white kit never seen before.
Villa will pull on that shirt for the last time this weekend, so talkSPORT.com has taken a look at why they are not wearing their usual kit…
Why does Aston Villa wear a unique kit?
Aston Villa will only wear their special kit for their first two pre-season games.
The all-white shirt features the Aston Villa Foundation as sponsor and also has a nod to the club's 150th anniversary on the back collar.
Emery's team will wear the shirt to help raise funds, as after the match against Spartak Trnava, each shirt will be auctioned off.
The white kit will not be available for retail sale and proceeds from the auction will go directly to the Foundation.
Guy Rippon, Aston Villa Foundation and Community Director, said: “All proceeds will be invested in the Foundation’s disability activities, a vital part of our work, which sees almost 100 players represent Aston Villa in regional disability leagues.
“The proceeds will also support organised sporting activities for nurseries, as well as youth clubs for children and young people with special educational needs.”
More details on how to join the t-shirt auction can be found here. here.
After Saturday's game, Aston Villa will be sporting their home kit for the new campaign.
The all-white jersey will not be worn against the MLS team. Columbus Crew, RB Leipzig, America clubAthletic Bilbao and Borussia Dortmund in their other friendlies.
Villa are approaching the end of the Premier League season, aiming for more success after finishing in the top four last time out.
That incredible finish means they are in the Champions League for the first time since 1982, when they won the European Cup.
Emery is hoping for a good pre-season ahead of his first away game against West Ham on Saturday 17 August.
