“And I am determined to continue to lead them as we have done for the past month.”

He continued: “I definitely took the job to try and help improve English football.

“I know what (winning) would mean not just to the general public in England but particularly to the people involved in English football, from those who develop young players to those who run clubs at all levels of the game.

“I really think we've improved the credibility of English football in how it's perceived around the world.

“But ultimately, until we win that trophy, there will always be those questions, both abroad and at home, about what we have done.”
