According to TZMünchen, Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has doubts about a potential move to Bayern Munich in the summer.
It is reported that Alonso has doubts about becoming Bayern head coach due to the ‘chaos’ on and off the pitch at the club. It is believed that a move to the club may not be in the former midfielder’s interest for his future career path.
Alonso has analysed the situation at the club and does not want to get involved in drama surrounding the club. The likely options for Alonso is to move to Liverpool or stay at Leverkusen another season.
The majority of the Leverkusen squad will stay together for next season and it will give Alonso the chance to prove himself with this squad on the biggest stage in Europe, have a say in squad matters as well as most importantly, working in peace.
This would not be the case at Bayern where he would be constantly under pressure from the board, fans and the media, whilst also having little say in the squad composition due to sports director Christoph Freund and the incoming Max Eberl being heavily involved in the process. This is not the case at Leverkusen, whilst it would also not be the case at Liverpool.
Eberl had previously tried to bring Alonso to the Bundesliga as Borussia Mönchengladbach but is quoted as saying: “We had a conversation. That was an exchange, but we couldn’t offer him as much as he could to me.” as to why a move did not materialise.
