Barcelona Manager Xavi Hernandez warned his team that anything but a win against Cádiz this weekend will be the end of their hopes of winning the League. The Blaugrana are eight points behind their arch-rivals, but they could reduce the gap to five points with a win in El Clasico next week at least.
While 18th-placed Cadiz may look an easier match on paper, the Yellow Submarine have been in good form of late, as Xavi highlighted.
“They have only lost one game in the last five and they beat Atletico at home recently. They are in danger of dropping down a division and they are missing out on life. They are a very aggressive team, orderly, direct football… Uncomfortable opponent and difficult terrain. It will be difficult. Let's see how we get into it and the level of fatigue. These are three vital points if we want to compete in the League.
Naturally, with the game sandwiched between the two games of Paris Saint-Germain and a Clasico to come the weekend after that there was a lot of talk about rotationns.
“It's a vital game. If we don't win, the League could be over for us. We have to come out very energetic to fight towards the end. If we fail tomorrow, the Clasico will be of little use to us. We'll see what the boss. It's an important day for the League. We're playing for a title tomorrow.”
