'You are a disgrace': Jason Cundy criticizes Jamie O'Hara for wanting Tottenham to lose against Man City
Jason Cundy was dismayed by Tottenham fan Jamie O'Hara's preference to see Ange Postecoglou's team lose to Manchester City.
Spurs play a key role in this season's Premier League title destiny.
Winning or drawing against Pep Guardiola's men on Tuesday would have staunch rivals Arsenal the opportunity to win the title this weekend.
On the other hand, a win for City would put them in pole position to seal their fourth consecutive Premier League crown, but would also end Tottenham's hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League.
Postecoglou admitted Monday that while he recognizes the importance of the rivalry, he “will never understand if someone wants their own team to lose.”
Following Aston Villa's 3-3 draw against Liverpool on Monday night, leaving the door open for Spurs to clinch a top-four spot, Cundy asked his talkPSORT co-host how he was feeling ahead of Tuesday's clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“I don't know how I feel, I'm conflicted,” O'Hara said. “I don't dare say that I want (Tottenham to win). I'd be lying if I said that.
“You need counseling,” Cundy joked in response. “Ange has said that any Spurs fan who wants to lose tomorrow night needs advice. He has all the reason.
“You can't want to lose tomorrow night because if Villa had beaten Liverpool then I would understand.
“You can reach 69 points and Aston Villa lose crystal Palace “It's not impossible, that's why you can still play in the Champions League.”
But Cundy's words had no sway with O'Hara, who seemed at peace with Spurs losing to City and missing out on the riches of Champions League football.
“Haven't you watched the Spurs for the last 15 years?” O'Hara added. “I have needed advice as a Spurs fan.
“I have friends from Arsenal and I have to deal with people from Arsenal all the time. It's okay for Ange, he's from Australia.
“We are not going to win the Champions League and, by the way, we do not have much chance of beating Manchester City either.
“He doesn't understand what it means for the men and women who have to deal with Arsenal fans when they win the league and we hand them the title.”
Chelsea fan Cundy responded: “You are an absolute disgrace. You have to forget about Arsenal, get rid of the bitterness. If they win it, they win it. You have to mind your own business.”
But O'Hara had the last word and even mapped out his dream scenario.
“I'm very happy to play in the Europa League,” he said. “Manchester City win the title and Arsenal finish with the same amount of trophies as Spurs. I'm happy with that”.
