After back-to-back wins against Young Boys and Bayern Munich, Barcelona are in a good place to advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League. The Catalans can move a step closer with another win on Wednesday as they prepare to face Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade.
Against MD4 in the league stage, Barcelona sat in 10th place – not that Hansi Flick knew. He said that during his pre-match press conference (via MD), while also hammering home the point that his side is nowhere near confirmed as in the knockout stage.
“Things can change a lot. The important thing is to win the games, and after the game against Bayern, it changed a lot. I don't even know what position we are in. We just started, and when we finish, we hope to to be in the top eight. That's the goal and I think we can get there.”
Flick also rated his Barcelona the team's chances of winning the competition itself – comes after many experts have labeled the leaders of the League as the best team in Europe so far this season.
“You have to do a lot of work to win the Champions League. There are very good teams that have the same goal as us. In the end, it's about working hard and talking on the pitch.
